たくさんの生地を使って、毎日仕事をしている。
出来る限り、無駄のないよう裁ち方をしているけれど、どうしても出てくる残布は、昔から掃除に使っていた。窓や棚を拭いたり、パソコン画面を拭いたり、床掃除に使ったり。
お掃除の後は、洗って再利用することもある。

We work with a lot of fabrics every day.
Although we try to cut as much as possible without wasting anything, we have been using the leftover fabric for cleaning for a long time. I wipe windows and shelves, wipe computer screens, and clean floors.
After cleaning, they are sometimes washed and reused.
伸縮性があり、凸凹のある山城の生地は、細かな溝掃除では汚れや埃を取り除いてくれるし、柔らかな面素材はガラスやパソコンなどの繊細な拭き取りにも向いている。
Uneven Yamashiro fabric has a stretchy and removes dirt and dust for narrow ditch cleaning, as well as a soft surface material that is suitable for delicate wiping of glass, computers, etc.
いびつな形をした残布は、服や小物として生まれ変わることはできないが、感謝を込めて、最後まで使い切りたい。そのまま捨てることだってできるが、それはなんとも茗荷に悪い。
だから、感謝を込めて掃除に使う。
最後の最後まで生地を大切にしたい。
そんな想いで、先人たちから引き継いだ日常の知恵とも言えるハギレでのお掃除は、今も当たり前に受け継がれている。
Although the unique shaped dust cloths cannot be reborn as clothing or accessories, we want to use it up to the last, as a sign of gratitude. We could even throw it away as it is, but we cannot treat it roughly.
So, with gratitude, I use it for cleaning.
We want to take care of it until the very end.
With this in mind, cleaning with the dust cloths, a daily life skill inherited from our elders, is still passed down from generation to generation.
