ノスタルジックな景色の中にある小さなお店「八十八良葉舎」

Occasionally, a train passes by, bringing a breeze with it.
Hatoya ryouyousha, a small store in a nostalgic landscape.

誰もが知る抹茶ラテも、八十八良葉舎の抹茶ラテは格別だ。
そっと貼られたメニューには、見たことも聞いたこともない抹茶の名前が並んでいる。
お抹茶をたてる小さな音が心地よく響く。

Everyone knows about matcha lattes, but the matcha lattes at Hatoya ryouyousha are exceptional.
The menu, quietly posted on the wall, lists names of matcha teas that I have never seen or heard of before.
The small sound of matcha being made is pleasant.

八十八良葉舎の丸山順裕さんに京都山城の服を着てもらった。
丸山さんにプレゼントしたのは自然シボダークグリーン、抹茶にちなんでこのカラーをセレクト。

We asked Mr. Maruyama of Hatoya ryouyousha to wear Kyoto Yamashiro’s clothes.
We presented Mr. Maruyama with a natural shibo dark green, and selected this color in honor of matcha green tea.

軽い着心地と肌触りに驚く丸山さん。
風が抜けるような心地よい感触。
ふだん当たり前に着ている服では知ることが無かった着心地に、驚きが隠せない。

Mr. Maruyama was surprised at the lightweight comfort and feel.
It feels comfortable, as if a breeze is blowing through it.
He could not hide his surprise at the comfort he had never known before in the clothes he normally wears.

セミナーで出会ったお茶の奥深さに魅了されたように、
今まで当たり前に肌に触れていた生地が持つ魅力を体感。

Just as I was fascinated by the depth of the tea I encountered at the seminar,
I experienced the charm of fabrics that I had taken for granted and that touched my skin.

「今まで自分が着ていた服の着心地とはまるで違いますね」
毎日、着るものだから、肌への負担や着心地の大切さを実感したと語ってくれた。

It’s so different from the clothes I used to wear.
Because she wears these clothes every day, she realized the importance of comfort and the burden it places on the skin.

服もお茶も、身近であるにも関わらず、ほんものの持つチカラを知るきっかけは少ないのかもしれないが、
一度、ほんものを知れば、その奥深さと心地よさに魅了されるのだ。

Clothes and tea are both familiar to us, but we may not have the chance to know the power of the real thing,
Once you get to know the real thing, you will be fascinated by its depth and comfort.

ガタゴトと嵐電の音が響いた。
普段の京都に生まれた小さな小さなお店「八十八良葉舎」
身近で当たり前のように、すぐそばにあったお茶の奥深い魅力。
この面白さに魅了された丸山さんの挑戦は続いていく。

かつて山城が、この生地の魅力を知ってもらうために作り始めたTシャツが、
いまでは多くの人に認めていただき、今日があるように、
丸山さんの純粋なまでの信念が生み出す、八十八良葉舎の抹茶ラテも、
いつしか世のスタンダードになっていくのだろう。

Hatoya ryouyousha , a small little store born in ordinary Kyoto.
The deep fascination of tea, so familiar and so commonplace, was right at hand.
Fascinated by this fascination, Mr. Maruyama’s challenge continues.

In the past, Yamashiro started making T-shirts to let people know about the appeal of this fabric,
Now, many people recognize it, and it has become what it is today,
Maruyama’s matcha latte, created by his pure conviction, will probably become a standard.

道は続く、まっすぐに、どこまでも。
お茶の奥深さを届けることに終わりはない。
そして、これからは、抹茶を取り囲む、さまざまな原材料にも注目していきたいと丸山さんは語る。

一杯のお茶がもたらす奇跡のような美味しさは、
訪れる人を魅了し、丸山さんを新たな道へと繋げていくのだ。

挑戦は続く。
そして、いつか丸山さんの試みが100年後のスタンダートとなるのかもしれない。

The road goes on, straight and endless.
There is no end to delivering the depth of tea.
And from now on, Mr. Maruyama says, he would like to focus on the various raw materials that surround matcha.

The challenge continues.
And perhaps one day, Mr. Maruyama’s attempts will become the standard for the next 100 years.
