風情ある町家にネオンの看板が、不思議とよく似合う。

昼間から通し営業で、美味しいビールやお酒が飲めると噂を聞き、休日にふらりと行ってみた。

The emotional town Gion.
The neon signboard in the elegant townhouse fits well with the atmosphere of the town. I heard a rumor that the restaurant is open all day and serves delicious beer and sake, so I wandered over there on a day off.

窮屈な服装は、休日らしくない。
だけど、ゆるすぎるのもらしくない。
そんな日のお気に入りが、このジョガーパンツ。

店舗奥の大きな冷蔵庫に、ずらりと並ぶお酒の数々。
呑兵衛にはたまらない圧巻の風景だ。
さてさて、どれからいただこうかしら。

A large refrigerator in the back of the store is lined with a wide selection of sake.
It is a sight to behold for the sake drinker.
Now, which one shall I start with?

もともと、お茶屋さんだったこの場所をリノベーションして作られた、立ち飲みBARは、キャッシュオンスタイル。

店名の「山根子」とは、芸舞妓さんの文化が始まる前、かつて三味線などを使いパフォーマンスをする人たちを「山根子」と呼んだそうで、その言葉が由来となっている。

Originally a teahouse, this standing bar was renovated into a cash-only establishment. The name of the restaurant, “Yamaneko,” comes from the term “Yamaneko,” which was used in the past to refer to people who performed using a shamisen and other instruments, before the gei-maiko culture began.
