「東寺さんの近くにおはぎ屋さんがオープンしてたよ」
友人からそんな話を聞いていたのを思い出し、餡子好きの私は、初詣の帰りに向かうことにした。

There was an ohagi shop open near To-ji Temple.
I remembered hearing such a story from one of my friends, and being a lover of sweet bean paste, I decided to head there on my way home from my first visit to the temple in the new year.

この冬、買ったばかりのレッグウォーマーが、私の足取りを軽くする。

シンプルな看板には大きな〇が良く目立つ。
オープンを祝う花たちが招く店内。
平乃屋と書かれた引き戸を静かに開ける。

The leg warmers I just bought this winter will lighten my step.

A simple sign with a large circle stands out well.
Flowers celebrating the opening invite me inside.
I quietly open the sliding door marked “Hiranoya.

寒さを忘れさせてくれる、ボア半纏はざっくりと大きめだから、冬によくある服のもたつきもなく、動きやすいから、お出かけが楽しい。新しいお店、新しい出会い。
新年早々に美味しいものに出会える予感に心が躍る。

The boa hanten, which makes me forget about the cold, is roughly sized, so it is easy to move around in, without the leaning of clothes that is common in winter, so you can enjoy going out. New stores, new encounters.
The anticipation of encountering delicious food early in the New Year makes my heart jump.

ショーケースに並ぶ、かわいらしいおはぎたち。
シンプルでありながら、その意匠に思わず笑みがこぼれおちる。

金ごま、抹茶きなこ、くるみ。

見ているだけで、楽しくなるかわいらしさ。
一番人気はくるみだと、店員さんが教えてくれた。

Golden sesame, green tea kinako, and walnut.

Just looking at them is a fun and pretty experience.
The clerk told me that walnut is the most popular in this store.

美味しいものを選ぶ瞬間って、どうしてこんなに楽しいのだろう。
まるで子どもみたいに、ショーケースとにらめっこ。

Why is the moment of choosing delicious food so much fun?
I stare at the showcase as if I was a child.

悩みに悩んで選んだのは、つぶあん・抹茶きなこ・くるみの3種。
そして大好きなわらび餅もチョイス！
ペロリと食べちゃいそうな大きさに、待つ時間すら楽しくて仕方がない。

After much deliberation, I chose three kinds: tsubu-an , green tea kinako , and walnut.
I also chose my favorite, warabi rice cake!
The size of the rice cake was so large that I could eat it easily, and even the waiting time was enjoyable.

窓際のイートインスペースで、思いを巡らせながら静かに待つ時間。
ボア半纏の内側は、楊柳生地で出来ているから、店内の温かさもふんわりと包み込み、温かさを逃さない。

Time to quietly wait in the eat-in space by the window while thinking.
The inside of the boa hanten is made of willow fabric, so it softly wraps the warmth of the restaurant and keeps the warmth inside.

足元のレッグウォーマーは、防寒はもちろん、おしゃれアイテムとしてもシンプルな装いにアクセントを届けてくれる。

Leg warmers for the feet deliver an accent to simple outfits as a fashionable item as well as to keep out the cold.

かわいいお皿に乗って、おはぎが登場！
丁寧にたてられた珈琲の香りが鼻腔をくすぐる。

The ohagi appears on a cute plate!
The aroma of carefully brewed coffee tickles my nostrils.

黒文字を入れると、すぅーっと入るやわらかさ。
餡の美味しさが引き立つ、シンプルな味わいに笑顔があふれる。
わらび餅は、そのやわらかさと味わい深さに驚きを隠せない。

Gentle sweetness and elegant taste.
When I put a black letter in it, it is so soft that it goes in easily.
The simple taste of the bean paste that brings out the deliciousness of the bean paste will bring a smile to my face.
The softness and depth of flavor of the warabi rice cakes is a surprise to me.

美味しいものは誰かと分かち合ってこそ、その美味しさが楽しめるんだ。
和菓子ってほんとに不思議。

I think that delicious food can only be enjoyed when shared with someone.
Wagashi is truly mysterious.
The richness that lies behind the simple taste of the ingredients and the thoughts of the creator will fill my heart with satisfaction.

家に帰って、家族みんなでコタツで食べよう。
それは、とっても楽しい時間のはじまりの合図になるはず。
家族が喜ぶ顔が目に浮かぶ。

この冬、レッグウォーマーのおかげで、冬の散歩が楽しみになった。
足元を包むレッグウォーマーと見つけた小さな名店。
さっそく餡子好きの友達にも教えなくっちゃ。
2023年に見つけた美味しいおはぎが、私のお休みを彩った。

Let’s go home and eat at the kotatsu with my family.
It will signal the beginning of a very enjoyable time.
I can see my family’s happy faces.

This winter, thanks to the leg warmers, I look forward to my winter walks.
