Imamiya Shrine in Rakuhoku, Kyoto, is famous for its “aburi mochi,” a sweet that has remained unchanged for hundreds of years, gently and deliciously welcoming visitors to the shrine.<\/p>\n

Aburi Mochi” is a historic delicacy made by Kazariya and Ichiwa, both located within the district of Imamiya Shrine, and consists of a small rice cake the size of a thumb, roasted on a thin bamboo skewer and covered with a rich and flavorful white miso sauce.<\/p>\n

Most Kyoto people have a favorite store, and most of them have been visiting one or the other since they were children, taken by their grandfathers or grandmothers. Most of them have been taking their grandparents to one of their favorite restaurants since they were children.It’s like, “My family is Kazariya-san, I am Ichiwa-san.”<\/p>\n
