Hi, everyone. This is Kyoto Yamashiro, the third generation of Yamashiro.<\/p>\n

As many of you may know, I have been writing a column on Facebook and Instagram since I reached the 10-year milestone of my blog, which I used to update daily. It has been a long time since I have written like this.<\/p>\n

Through this column, I am also trying my best to deliver as much information as possible about Yamashiro, the fabric, and Kyoto.

Kyoto Yamashiro is a small company.<\/p>\n

The company started as a sewing factory where the previous generation received requests to sew woven fabric products.
\nAt that time, the company sewed embroidery, cutter shirts, leather wear, etc., instead of sewing staples.
\nThe first generation, who focused on the willow fabric, changed the business to sewing crepe underwear, and ever since then, the company has been focused on staple items.
\nAlthough nowadays, staple pants have become a nostalgic item, at that time they were a necessity and many orders were received.
\nThe company had a reputation for beautifully sewing the collars of open-front shirts with stetekos. The sewing method that takes into consideration the direct contact with the skin is also Yamashiro’s unique technique.<\/p>\n

\u72ec\u81ea\u958b\u767a\u3057\u305f\u694a\u67f3\u751f\u5730\u3092\u300c\u4eac\u3061\u3062\u307f\u300d\u3068\u547c\u3093\u3060\u3002<\/p>\n

As time went by, the number of users of the pants decreased, and by the time I took over the company, the number of orders had plummeted, and it was time to decide what to do….<\/p>\n

I did not want to end the company that both my parents and grandparents had worked so hard to build in my generation. The more I learned about the beauty and convenience of fabrics, the more I thought about how to make people aware of them.<\/p>\n

The first in-house product other than underwear that we made was a T-shirt.<\/p>\n

We called it “Kyo-Chijimi,” which is a uniquely developed willow fabric.<\/p>\n

This was in 2004, and I will never forget the excitement and pressure I felt when I held in my hands a T-shirt I had made in 10 different colors.<\/p>\n

This was my starting line.<\/p>\n

From here, I have made many mistakes, had the encouragement and support of many customers, met staff members who have walked with me, talked with artisans who support me, talked about the fabrics I continue to carefully protect, and about the new products I have created.
\nI would like to share here what I felt and noticed in the process.
\nAnd also about my beloved Kyoto, where I was born and raised.<\/p>\n
