There was a time when my beloved daughter could not eat anything with milk or eggs. This continued even in kindergarten, where school lunches were started, and even her annual birthday cake had to be held back, which made me sad as a parent.
\nWe searched and tried all over Kyoto, searched and tried again, searched and tried again….
\nThat is how I arrived at one store.
\nIt was a store called “Mushiyashinashi” in Ichijyoji, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto.
\nThe sweet and gentle cakes are made with allergy-friendly soy milk and contain no milk or eggs. I will never forget the excitement I felt when I took a bite.
\nSince then, I have continued to visit the shop, not once a year, but many, many times. The joy on my daughter’s face and the cakes that brought joy, excitement, and relief to my wife and I are still a part of our family.<\/p>\n

Many of Yamashiro’s customers are also uncomfortable with synthetic fibers.
\nThey come to us for a variety of reasons, such as itchy or dry skin, but many come to us in search of 100% cotton, for old-fashioned pants, for those who sweat a lot, or for those who are bedridden and are looking for something a little more comfortable.
\nWhenever I meet someone who is suffering from the same problems as I was when I myself asked for a cake for my beloved daughter, I truly feel glad to have been in this business. It also gives me a sense of gratitude for having kept this company going for 70 years since my predecessors.
\nWhen work becomes busy and we are driven, it is easy to forget our original spirit.
\nMy daughter is now able to taste everything, but it is moments like these that I try to remind myself of my first encounter with this cake.
\nDon’t worry, she will be able to climb that wall someday.<\/p>\n
